GDR reservist badge, 1990
Inventory number: DPM 3.2524
This badge for NVA reservists was still being produced in 1990 for the three branches of the armed forces and the border troops of the GDR. However, the NVA was disbanded faster than the badges could be awarded. However, many still found their way into the hands of reservists without an official award certificate.
The badge for the land forces of the NVA shows a BMP tank, the GDR coat of arms and the inscription “TREU GEDIENT” in a golden honorary wreath. Our badge was found in the garbage in 1993 and made available to the museum on permanent loan. Perhaps it was one of those that were no longer issued or the recipient felt the award was worthless after the NVA was disbanded.
